Movie Draft Board
A movie draft is the easiest way to explain what a draft is to people who have never been near a fantasy league. A hundred films, everyone takes turns, and by round three someone is defending a pick they cannot defend.
The pool spans every decade of cinema with the year, director and genre on each row, so the board carries enough information to make a pick feel considered rather than random.
It works as a party game, a film-club season opener, or a team social that is not a quiz. One link, a short clock, and about twenty minutes.
Running a movie draft board
1. Load a hundred films
The board opens with a hundred landmark films, each carrying its year, director and genre.
2. Decide the shape of the draft
Set how many people are drafting and how many films each one takes. Five people taking five films each is a good first draft.
3. Keep the clock short
Thirty to sixty seconds a pick is what keeps a party draft funny. Long clocks turn it into homework.
4. Share one link and draft it live
Send the join link, set a pick clock, and everyone picks from the same board in real time. Spectators can follow along without an account, and the pick feed updates on every screen at once.
Movie Draft Board questions
Can I use my own list of films?
Yes. Import a CSV of any films you like — a decade, a director, a genre, or the shortlist your film club has been arguing about — and draft that instead.
How do you score a movie draft?
However your group wants to. Most people do not score it at all: the draft itself is the game, and the rosters are the argument. If you want a winner, a group vote at the end is the usual answer.
How many people can draft at once?
As many as you like — everyone joins from the same link, and the board updates live on every screen.
How much does it cost?
$49, once. That is a LiveDraft Lifetime license: unlimited drafts, unlimited participants, every feature, forever. It is not a subscription and there are no per-draft or per-seat fees.
Do the people I invite have to pay?
No, and they never will. Everyone you invite plays free, forever. No seats, no per-player fees, no account upsell. Only the person running the draft needs a license, so a twelve-person league costs $49 in total.
Is it a subscription? Does it expire?
Neither. You pay once and the license is yours permanently — no renewals, no expiry, no card kept on file for later.

Do I need to know how to code or use a spreadsheet?

How many people can join a draft?
As many as your format needs. Invite friends by username, set the draft order, and everyone joins the live room from any device — no installs required.
What draft formats are supported?
Standard and snake drafts, budget auctions with anti-snipe and max bids, and a hybrid mode that auctions the top of your board before drafting the rest.
What happens if someone loses connection?
The clock is server-authoritative, so the draft stays in sync for everyone. Anyone who drops can reconnect and resume exactly where they left off, and optional auto-pick keeps things moving on the clock.
