How it works

How to run an esports draft

Step 01

Build the player pool for your title

Upload a CSV of pro players with their team, role and your own rank — or one row per organisation if you draft teams rather than individuals. Custom rating columns carry KDA, rating, or whatever your league actually scores on.

Step 02

Pick a format that matches the meta

Snake works when talent is evenly spread. Use a budget auction when a handful of players are clearly above the rest, and hybrid when you want to auction the top names and snake the rest of the roster.

Step 03

Draft live with the whole server watching

Share one join link in Discord, set a pick clock, and go. Spectators can follow a public draft without an account, and the OBS ticker overlays picks live if you are streaming it.

Draft strategy

What matters in a esports draft

The board is only half of it — here is how esports leagues usually approach draft day.

Esports drafts break the usual fantasy assumptions because roles do not carry across titles. A League of Legends board needs five distinct lanes, a Counter-Strike board is built around an AWPer and an IGL, and a Rocket League board is three players with no positions at all. Decide the shape of a roster before you decide the pool.

Roster churn is the other difference. Pro line-ups move mid-split far more often than in traditional sports, so leagues that draft more than once a season tend to keep the pool as a CSV they re-upload rather than a fixed template — re-import the updated list, then duplicate the previous draft to keep the same settings.

Auctions suit esports better than snake drafts when one or two players are obviously the best in the region. A snake draft hands them to whoever wins the coin flip; an auction makes everyone pay what they think a carry is worth, and an anti-snipe timer stops the last-second sniping that plagues Discord-run drafts.

Everything included

The full draft engine, included

Every feature works for esports out of the box. No add-ons, no per-seat fees.

Draft literally anything

Upload a CSV with unlimited custom rating columns, or start from a community or system template. Players, teams, prospects, keepers — if it fits in a list, you can draft it.

Snake & standard drafts

Run classic linear or snake drafts with configurable rounds, roster sizes, and per-pick timers that keep the board moving.

Budget auctions

Full nomination auctions with live bidding, anti-snipe extensions, max bids, and minimum increments. Salary caps optional.

Hybrid format

Auction the top N of your board, then snake-draft the rest. The best of both worlds in a single event.

Truly live & synced

Server-authoritative clocks keep every manager on the exact same second. Drop off and reconnect anytime — your seat is waiting.

Auto-pick on the clock

Nobody likes waiting on an AFK manager. Optional auto-pick takes the best available by rank the moment the timer hits zero.

Friends, invites & lobby

Add friends by username, invite them to your event, set or randomize the draft order, and ready-up together in the lobby.

Live chat & sound alerts

Talk trash in real time and get an audible heads-up when you are on the clock. Zero email spam, zero refresh-to-see-the-pick.

Public spectating

Open the doors and let the league, the group chat, or the whole internet watch your draft unfold pick by pick.

Pro-grade board tools

Search, sort, and filter the pool by position, team, and any custom rating. Never scroll past your sleeper again.

No duplicate picks, ever

Database-level locks and a per-event mutex make double-picks and race conditions impossible, even with a full room bidding at once.

Template marketplace

Browse ready-made community and system templates for dozens of sports, or publish your own for the world to draft.

Photos on every pick

Add headshots or logos to every draftable item so the board looks like a broadcast, not a spreadsheet.

Anonymous auction bidding

Hide bidder identities during the auction for pure, poker-faced price discovery. No tells, no collusion.

One-time

Everything, forever, for $49$29

Run unlimited drafts, at any size, with every feature — forever. Your second draft costs nothing. So does your two-hundredth. Split across a 12-person league that is $4.08 a head — once, not every season.

FAQ

Esports draft questions

Can I run a Esports draft with my own rankings?

Absolutely. Upload a CSV of players with your own ranks and custom columns, or start from a Esports template and tweak it. Your board, your rules.

Does LiveDraft-It support Esports auctions?

Yes. Run a full budget auction for your Esports pool with per-manager budgets, minimum bid increments, anti-snipe extensions and optional anonymous bidding — or mix an auction and a snake draft together with the hybrid format.

Is there a Esports template I can use?

Browse the template marketplace for community and system Esports datasets, or build your own in minutes and optionally share it with everyone.

Can I run a fantasy esports draft for any game?

Yes. Nothing on the board is tied to a specific title — you define the positions, the pool and the rating columns, so League of Legends, Counter-Strike, Valorant, Dota 2, Rocket League or a game that launched last week all work the same way.

Can I draft teams instead of individual players?

Yes. A row on the board is whatever you upload. Plenty of esports leagues draft organisations for a tournament rather than players for a season — build the CSV that way and the draft behaves identically.

How much does it cost?

$49, once. That is a LiveDraft Lifetime license: unlimited drafts, unlimited participants, every feature, forever. It is not a subscription and there are no per-draft or per-seat fees.

Do the people I invite have to pay?

No, and they never will. Everyone you invite plays free, forever. No seats, no per-player fees, no account upsell. Only the person running the draft needs a license, so a twelve-person league costs $49 in total.

Is it a subscription? Does it expire?

Neither. You pay once and the license is yours permanently — no renewals, no expiry, no card kept on file for later.

What features does the license include?

All of them. Every format (snake, standard, auction, hybrid), custom CSV datasets with unlimited rating columns, photos on the board, anonymous auction bidding, live chat, spectating, auto-pick, the template library, and priority support. There is no higher tier to buy.

Do I need to know how to code or use a spreadsheet?

No. Start from a ready-made template in one click, or upload a simple CSV. We provide a downloadable template with the columns already set up for you.

How many people can join a draft?

As many as your format needs. Invite friends by username, set the draft order, and everyone joins the live room from any device — no installs required.

What draft formats are supported?

Standard and snake drafts, budget auctions with anti-snipe and max bids, and a hybrid mode that auctions the top of your board before drafting the rest.

What happens if someone loses connection?

The clock is server-authoritative, so the draft stays in sync for everyone. Anyone who drops can reconnect and resume exactly where they left off, and optional auto-pick keeps things moving on the clock.

Can other people watch our draft?

Yes — flip on public spectating and anyone with the link can follow along pick by pick, live.
